I was a faithful viewer of 'the last ship' during its first two seasons. When I read about the direction of the show in season 3, I decided not to watch it, as did many of my friends. Killing off Rachel, aka Rhona Mitra, was a major mistake. Of the two major characters, she, who found the cure and saved the world, brought a human element to the show. Her compassion, strength and brilliance were not lost on her fans. And, neither was the writers' callous disregard for her death, according to various blogs.
The reason for her death, as noted by the showrunners, producers and writers, makes absolutely no sense. The complaints about the third season imply that the story has a lot of holes, and the unfortunate way in which the writers have handled this Rachel issue--and the loss of Tex, also a fan favorite--is an insult to the fans' intelligence. And, now, that the virus has mutated, the fans are livid that she's not part of the show.
I read the blogs because I want to know whether the writers pland to bring her back from the dead. Doesn't look like that's the case, so they've lost me and many, many others. So, so sad!!
