Mrs. Carter: If anyone was going to get Kim to open up it was going to be Oprah.
On Sunday night, the entire Kardashian family sat down with Oprah Winfrey for her “Oprah’s Next Chapter” series, and there were even a few moments that even a Kardashian cynic would even appreciated. (Shocked? You should be.) Oprah had the guts to ask a question typically banned from discussion in Kim Kardashian’s infamous tape with Ray J, and she admitted that it did “introduce her to the world” in some way. However, she also said that the conception people had of her because of the tape forced her to work harder than ever in order to get that to change.
As for some other tough (but more predictable) questions, Kim yet again gave the “par for the course” answer when asked whether or not her “fairytale wedding” to Kris Humphries was staged in order to bring her family even more money and publicity:
“We have an amazing fan base that watches the show — we don’t do anything for ratings … I was in love: I wanted the life that I always pictured my fairytale life to be. I would’ve had an extravagant wedding anyway, to end that relationship was a risk in itself to lose ratings and I had to take the risk to be honest to myself.”
At the end of the day, there’s no real point in spinning it — if you love Kim, than this interview is probably only going to reinforce that when it comes to her attitude and honesty with some of Oprah’s questions. If you’ve been standing around on a picket line trying to get her off TV, you are probably still going to feel the same way after watched it.
This interview with Oprah is the first part of a “Next Chapter” series — the conclusion is set to air next Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
