‘American Idol’ notes: Phillip Phillips, Lauren Alaina, and Adam Lambert

Phillip has a comeback date.

We’re kicking off the work week now with some “American Idol” notes, and with it being summer, doesn’t it feel at least a little bit appropriate to be talking about three stories related to concerts? If you want to see Phillip Phillips or Adam Lambert in the near future, this article is for you.

Phillip sets a return date – Even though Phillip looks to be in recovery following his kidney surgery for the rest of the month, the reigning champ will be on the National Mall in Washington DC July 4 to perform during the annual PBS celebration event. According to the Associated Press, the song he will be specifically rocking out to is none other than his coronation single “Home.”

Here is what Phillip told the website about being prepared for the big occasion:

“I’m getting better each day, so that’s a good thing. I’m just walking around, getting my strength back together. It was tough, you know, those first few days, but I’m getting to where I can pick the guitar back up and write a little bit.”

Two days after this performance, Phillip will be in Michigan working to kick off the show’s live tour.

Lauren teams up with her dad – We wrote recently about Lauren Alaina heading home for a concert at Riverbend, and now we have what is a pretty sweet video from the occasion this past weekend.

As a way to celebrate Father’s Day, the season 10 alum brought up her father on stage to play guitar during an acoustic performance of “When You Say Nothing At All.” In addition to doing some songs off of her debut album “Wildflower,” Lauren also busted out a few acoustic covers that were fare more intimate than you would even hear on “American Idol” in a million years.

Adam Lambert heads off to San Francisco – Even though Adam has been in England for most of the month so far, is going to be heading back to California soon thanks to a free concert.

According to a local CBS affiliate, Adam will be joining Scars on 45 for an event on Sunday, June 24 at Golden Gate Park. The event runs from noon until 4:00 p.m. Pacific time, so be sure to turn up if you want to hear some great music.

As always here, be sure to turn back up for more of the latest “American Idol” news!
