‘The Bachelorette’ preview: What does Ryan Bowers do?

Why, Ryan, why?

Last week on “The Bachelorette,” we saw that Emily Maynard doesn’t put up with garbage when she sent Kalon McMahon packing for some rather nasty comments he made behind her back. This time around, Ryan Bowers is going to employ a similar technique — but instead insult her to her face.

In a sneak peek for Monday night’s new episode (which you can view over at this link), Ryan is going to act out in what seems to be a one-on-one date on the outskirts of the Croatian city / “Game of Thrones” filming location Dubrovnik. What do he do? While trying to explain what he can bring to the table for Emily, he brings up a rather-shocking quote:

“You can be a companion to me and I can be a companion to you. I’ve known that I want to have a good woman in my life so I’ve done my very best to be a great man … You’re like a trophy wife.”

Being that Emily has shown a tendency to be rather feisty, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that she does not react well to being called a “trophy wife.” As a matter of fact, she even reminds Ryan to his face that “trophy wives don’t talk.”

We don’t really know how to spell this out in any other way — Ryan’s in some deep you-know-what. We don’t know if he can pull himself out of this, and if not he will go the way of William from Ashley Hebert’s season as another recipient of the first one-on-one date of the season to successfully ruin their chances by sticking their foot in their mouth.

Hopefully, this does at least show that we had a pretty good reason for not putting Ryan in our rankings — for a show all about finding love, he seems a little bit too interested in being in love with himself.
