Usually, shows like to tease a certian something in their trailers for new seasons — but there are not many occasions where it turns out to be quite like this.
DirecTV has just released their brand-new teaser trailed for season 5 of “Damages,” and there is really one thing that stands out in it above all else — watching Rose Byrne’s character of Ellen seemingly falling off of a rooftop. Does she live to see another day? Probably, mostly since we find it relatively hard to imagine that a show would choose to highlight someone actually dying in one of their trailers. (What’s the excuse to watch then?)
In case you haven’t heard, this is going to be the final season for the drama — which started its run over on FX before moving to the satellite subscription service, where it has still maintained a loyal following. It should be noted that the last time DirecTV aired a final season of a show, it was the stellar “Friday Night Lights” — and this resulted in it getting a surprise Outstanding Drama Series Emmy nomination to go along with a win for Kyle Chandler against the likes of Jon Hamm and Hugh Laurie.
The new season of “Damages” is set to officially premiere on July 11 — so start getting ready now for some drama of the highest degree — and some more deserved Emmy love for Glenn Close.
What do you make of this trailer, and do you think there is a way in which Byrne’s character is actually dead?
