We have established that in the duality of good and evil, there are two Lucifers. Either we discard that and make an situation that breaks the suspension of disbelief and has defeated villains chasing our characters forever — or we end the show. The show has told the story which it wants to tell. It has done so fantastically. But, that story is complete.
