Yep, brilliant ABC, giving a fond farewell to a (once) very successful series by removing a lead character and her best friend and completely changing the dynamic. That’s a wrap! Again, enjoy every moment.

Enjoy Season 9, Leo. Like a few others, I am out. I did not enjoy Season 8 at all, but will see the story through to whatever end they give Beckett. And then…never again. And for the first time ever, I will not buy the DVD of the current season. My choice. Some fans like a ruggedly handsome frat-boy doofus who solves crimes (now just a fat frat-boy doofus). And some don’t. Good luck to ABC with whatever they do with this moving forward.

Sorry Leo but I must disagree that the lead is still Castle the writer. The lead has not been Castle since about season 5. I use my no fail popularity gauge in this determination. Basically what it is is an iPhone that I play solitaire on while Castle, the series, is on the air. I play solitaire while Bozo, the clown, the class idiot, the 40 year old who believes in fairy tales, whose ego is so big that his back and arm stays sore from patting himself on the back and cut off the phone while Beckett, Lanie, Ryan and Espisito are on. It has gotten so bad that I have had to keep the charger plugged in to prevent power outage. Let’s face it Nathan has overplayed the role of Castle so much that it is not even funny enough to generate any interest let alone be hilarious.

The lead is still Castle the writer. If it is reformatted to RC of S1,Ep 1, it could actually work quite well. That RC was impressively smart and bold. We’ve been given a chance to see the Esposito and Ryan clans and they can be interesting even more so when interacting with a multimillionaire.
