In reply to Leo. So as you stated before they lost fans @ 4million when Castle disappeared. Well I think they will lose even more with the departure of Stana. I know know show is called Castle but most fans watched for the interaction and love story of Caskett.

In reply to Charles Neale. I wouldn't be so sure, remember when Beckett walked out on RC, there was a loud out cry from a huge portion of the fan base demanding RC devorce KB.They may stick around to see Castle 2.0.

I’ll watch the new incarnation, like everyone I’m looking for entertaining stoies. If Castle 2.0 meets those requirements I could become a fan.

In reply to Martha. With regard to Nathan's acting talent I must admit that I had never seen Nathan or Stana act before watching the Castle series. I understand that Nathan had appeared in one soap opera and in Firefly. Now let's admit it that soap operas usually serve as an actor's first role and talent is usually not prevelant. With regard to Firefly this is what the critics had to say: "Feels like a forced hodgepodge of two alarmingly opposite genres just for the sake of being different." "To call Firefly a vast disappointment is an understatement." And, Firefly lasted only 14 episodes.

Over the course of this past season, I have tried to stay positive. Many of my posts have vainly tried to defend plot and character twists and turns that i knew in my heart of hearts made no sense. But, after the past few weeks, I have to admit defeat. For me Castle has been a series unlike anything else on television, and to see it come to this sorry state is too much. I don’t understand the reasoning behind much of anything that is going on. Jettisoning the female lead? Seriously? I am not into conspiracies, but it is odd that three of the four important characters written off the show during its run have been female characters. And the one male character was portrayed by an actor who WANTED to leave! One has to wonder about the value of female characters. I am watching the final episodes of this season only to see the last performances of Stana Katic and Tamala Jones. As much as I enjoy the rest of the cast, I can’t see myself continuing with the “clean slate” ABC apparently wants. It won’t be Castle, and I won’t be watching.

On 10/6/2015 Mr. Winter in an interview with TV Line stated the following ” There are things we’ve been able to do in the following episodes that we would not be able to even broach, now that we’ve created this new paradigm in their relationship.” He truly did that, he got Beckett fired by ABC. Who knows what happens to Kate Castle on May 16,2016, is she killed in a gun battle, beat or thrown under a bus by her husband? All we know for sure is that 5/16/2016 will be a really bad day for all Castle fans, and a tear will be in a droves eye. And the 95% of Castle fans that are mad about what happened this year, will be a little madder . Mr Winter will finally has taken us to that spot we have never been before, so we still do not know if Kate gets killed, rides off into the sunset on her motorcycle or the two agree on a divorce. For the first seven seasons Rick and Kate build a great relationship, but in season 8 that all but went away, as the two show runners worked on cleaning the slate. Season 8 is kind of like the old Jefferson Airplane song ( White Rabbit), rabbit holes and drugs, just go ask Alice how that turned out. Mr. Winter said if we have a season 9 of Castle he wants it with a clean slate. Does that mean he and Hawley are gone to, that would be a good thing

This has been the most baffling decision-making process concerning the course of a successful series that I have ever seen. Basically, they took a winning formula and literally drove it off a bridge to nowhere. The relationship was there, the only thing that was missing was a marriage license. They created an unnecessary problem (Rick goes missing) for which they had no plausible solution. Did the writers not know that happily married couples flirt with each other, fight with each other, actually have sex? Finally one must ask,”How good at acting were the two leads, if once they don’t get along they can’t believably play ‘the happy, loving couple’?” Certainly the charismatic, talented, funny Nathan Fillion can carry a series as a lead by himself. However, any viewer who chooses to stay and watch ABC at 10 on Monday nights may be watching a crime drama/comedy, but they won’t be watching “Castle.”

If Castle has had the best rom-com acting in the business where the performances of Fillion and Katic as a pair has dominated the show and the industry for 7 of the past 8 seasons, why would anyone think that killing off the female have of that top performing comedy team would be entertaining?
