We’ve all seen the fan wars at this point — and trust us, we find them as frustrating as anyone else. “True Blood” and “The Vampire Diaries” are two separate shows, and they should be looked at as apples and oranges … except when you have a story like the one we’re about to share. (Note: it’s not April Fools’ Day, so this is clearly not a joke.)
According to E! News, Alan Ball and company have decided to throw a dopplganger into the mix at some point during season 5 — we don’t know if she will be as evil as Katherine (or as fashionably-dressed) in comparison to Elena on the CW series, but we’re willing to bet that she’ll be some sort of polar opposite. Plus — if it works out like “The Vampire Diaries” — it’ll give Anna Paquin some more exciting material to work with.
The only conclusion that we can draw based on this information is that whatever happens here, it’s probably not going to end well for Sookie — mostly because nothing seems to. Just look at what happened with her grandmother … or Bill … or Tara. Nothing really works out according to plan, does it?
Personally, we want to see a Sookie alter-ego tear through Bon Temps inflicting some sort of terrible fairy magic (strange as that may sound) upon the entire town. Will that happen? Probably not, but in Alan Ball we trust! After all, He’s done a great job on so many plot twists before. Plus, it’s not like there is some rule floating around out there that only one vampire-related supernatural drama is allowed to have a twin. (“The Vampire Diaries” already share witches, vamps, werewolves, and a ratio of supernatural beings-to-humans that seems to be gradually becoming more lopsided.)
What sort of crazy character do you want this Sookie doppelganger to be, and do you have any issues with “True Blood” heading down this familiar road?
