We are going to kick off our second Thursday edition of “American Idol” notes with Casey Abrams, mostly because we are still applauding one of his random new performance videos of new single “Simple Life.”
Basically, the set up for the video below is pretty simple — it seems as though he randomly decided to take his bass down to a street corner and the middle of a suburban neighborhood and perform. There’s not much of a crowd around, so it’s pretty obvious that he was just doing it on the fly and for the fun of it. It’s a simple concept, and that (plus the people randomly walking by and the ones staring at him from their cars) make this worth watching. Plus, the song’s pretty great.
Casey’s self-titled debut album hits stores on June 26, and we’ll have more coverage of it leading up to that time.
Adam Lambert rehearses with Queen – Adam Lambert is performing some select tour dates with Queen later this summer, and he has also now revealed that the rehearsal process has officially begun.
In a post on Twitter, here is what he had to say about the rehearsals (while taking a few words out of colloquial British conversation in the process):
“Wonderful rehearsal w @QueenWillRock… Just found out Corrie won’t be on the Tele this evening. I’m Gutted!”

Carrie Underwood goes platinum — and more! – We actually have a pair of things worth talking about when it comes to Carrie, so consider this almost to be “notes within a note.”
-First, Carrie’s team at Arista Nashville announced via a press release that her single “Good Girl” is now certified platinum. This is the tenth single from the season 4 winner to accomplish this feat.
-According to USA Today (via Mjsbigblog), the duet between Carrie and Steven Tyler on the upcoming Aerosmith album is pretty much a go. This collaboration was first rumored a number of weeks ago.
Do you wish more “American Idol” alum would give random street performances like Casey?
