‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9: Eric Dane reflects on Chyler Leigh exit

How are they coping?

If you are like us, then you are probably still reeling from the sudden loss of Chyler Leigh from “Grey’s Anatomy” — and when you play her potential onscreen love interest for several years, you have to imagine that these emotions are taken up to another level altogether.

In speaking out for the first time about the exit of Leigh, series star Eric Dane (whose character of Mark is still in jeopardy of losing his own life thanks to the plane crash) tells E! News that he was even a little stunned by what happened:

“I knew that Chyler wanted to spend some more time with her family, and it’s difficult … It’s a tough schedule to keep up and she’s been working on the show for five seasons, so I wasn’t shocked. A little surprised, but not shocked, and we’re going to miss her.”

The only real consolation that there is for fans (and this is hardly consolation) is that Dane believes that Mark and Lexie were soulmates, even if they were unable to actually live out some of their lifelong dreams together. As for Mark, we’re really just hoping at this point that life will go on, and he will be able to find some sort of happiness with his life after everything he has been through.

Are you still devastated over what happened, and what do you want to see happen with Mark now?
