Awards notes: ABC’s ‘Scandal,’ ‘Parks and Recreation,’ and ‘Breaking Bad’

Who's landed a big-time Emmy gig?

As we near the thick of TV awards season, there are going to be plenty of new headlines that roll in — and this time, we are talking almost entirely about hosting gigs.

The Emmys – On Thursday, the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences announced that two potential nominees — Nick Offerman of “Parks and Recreation” and Kerry Washington of “Scandal” — are going to be responsible for reading out the nominations for the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards on July 19.

Will reading the nominees out loud help these two get some love? It’s not a guarantee, but the extra name recognition could very well help.

The TCA Awards – As for another big-time awards show, “Breaking Bad” star / perennial Emmy favorite Bryan Cranston is set to host the Television Critics Association Awards on July 28 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

In case you haven’t see the list of nominations for this show just yet, you can do so over at this link. “Homeland” and “Game of Thrones” (along with “Mad Men”) are some of the current favorites to take home trophies.
