“The Glass House” is set to premiere on ABC Monday night — that is, if it can mow through one of the nastiest lawsuits in the modern history of television first.
According to reports, CBS is now demanding that the people working behind the scenes with the show turn over all sorts of documents to the court — including emails between ABC and production members. They also want to see the contestant manual in order to determine the number of similarities present between the show and “Big Brother.”
A judge is expected to rule on this case soon, but the real question we have to ask is this — is this case starting to hurt both shows? Rather than talking about formats, contestants, twists, or other exciting elements of the game, much of our attention the past few weeks has been on a back-and-forth as to whether or not “The Glass House” ripped off “Big Brother” and is really just trying to fill a gap in the schedule until it premieres next month. All we really hope is that if they both end up making it to air, that they are entertaining and provide some great drama on a summer schedule where there is not much in the way of buzzworthy TV.
Do you wish we were talking more about other elements or the show, or should CBS be fighting “Glass House” just as hard as they are?
