‘Teen Mom’ premiere review: It’s a sad, sad world on MTV

Sad, no?

At this point, “Teen Mom” is a conundrum. The ladies on the show have obviously been made into stars, but yet they still somehow manage to come across like some of the most miserable people on the planet. Based on some of the storylines during Monday night’s premiere episode, we also now understand completely why this is the show’s last season.

For one, we really don’t even know what they are going to do with Catelynn Lowell for the rest of the season. Her child’s adoptive parents do not want to raise their family on-camera, and there’s really not much to her to do now since she’s not really around her daughter that much. What else is there?

Meanwhile, we wish at this point that Amber Portwood was off the show mostly for her emotional well-being. We watched her not only drink before heading to rehab, but also some continued arguments with Gary Shirley that remind us that it wasn’t that long ago that she was making headlines for socking the guy across the face. The saddest thing about this story is that we all already know how it ends — and it is certainly not with sunshine and rainbows.

As for Maci Bookout and Farrah Abraham, their stories really just seem pedestrian at the moment. Maci’s relationship with Kyle King is hardly exciting when we already know that the two end up breaking up, and seeing Farrah move to Florida did not have much in the way of fanfare, either. At least these two seem to have some sort of strong relationship still with their children, even if there is still plenty of drama with other people in their lives.

Did you enjoy the return of the show Tuesday night, or is this drama starting to become too much for you?
