Mrs. Carter: It’s finally happened.
Over eighteen months after the couple first announced that they were separating, TMZ is reporting (ironically on what would have been their 13-year wedding anniversary) that David Arquette has filed for divorce from Courteney Cox. The two actors (who appeared together on Cox’s “Cougar Town” last month) have been slowly building to this for some time, and there are no signs that this will be a troublesome divorce in any way.
In the court documents, Arquette claims that he is representing himself — not only that, but he is also not asking for anything from his wife other than joint custody of his daughter Coco. Over the course of the past year and a half, David has even professed to still having feelings for Courteney, but she did not seem to be as interested in a reconciliation as he was. The two were nonetheless more open about their split than many other celebrity couples out there. (Cox also was in attendance for many of Arquette’s performances on “Dancing with the Stars.”)
Since the separation started, Arquette has since gone on to date reporter Christina McLarty, but the two split in March after several months of being together.
Stay tuned — we’ll have more on this story as it breaks.
