Monday night turned out to be a rather good one when it comes to reality TV — though the same cannot be said when it comes to the ratings for the Stanley Cup Finals.
Of course, the higher ratings for ABC and Fox really can just be attributed to one thing — the fact that “America’s Got Talent” was not on thanks to hockey, and the audience went elsewhere.
ABC – “The Bachelorette” is finally starting to find its footing with Emily Maynard as the lead, and the 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic that it drew was its strongest in several weeks.
Fox – “Hell’s Kitchen” drew its highest rating of the season in a 2.7, and “MasterChef” was not that far behind with a 2.6. With these sort of numbers, Gordon Ramsay could be a summer tradition on the network for as long as he wants to be there.
NBC – There are going to be some major revisions here, but for now Game 6 between the Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils posted a 1.6 rating in the demo and over 4 million viewers. This number will inevitably go up in the final ratings later in the day, but is for now it is the least-watched Game 6 in the history of the Stanley Cup Finals. (Luckily for NBC, they don’t have to worry about broadcasting any more of these games now that the Kings have won.)
Do you think the rise of “The Bachelorette” and “Hell’s Kitchen” is really just thanks to “America’s Got Talent” not being on?
