In reply to Matt Carter. Matt your so right we need a better footing. For the most part Tone Death was better, when looking back at episode 2. Most of the fans wanted the separation of Rick and Kate to go away after episode 8 Mr. and Mrs. Castle, but it has not happened. I guess we are all going to have to wait until episode 16 for that to happen, truly sad. Kate told Rick she would keep in the loop about LokSat, she hasn't. One wonders if she even told him about Rita. I hope we get more viewers this Sunday, but I really do not think we will ever get back the 3 million that left until we return the elephant in the room ( the separation of the two) back to the circus.

Matt, sorry but I did not see much in the way of creativity. It was just a C grade stand alone murder case. Now do not get me wrong I love stand alone, single episode cases. They have stood the sands of time with such shows as NCIS, CSI, Law and Order, Rissoli and Isles, Mash,etc. the problems with Castle started (and are continuing) with long story lines that start with an event (Castle’s disappearance) and have an elapsed time ( 1 1/2 years for Castle) with little, if any, mention for years. As Nathan said, people get bored in the wait. The firm footing should be stand alone, single episode and well conceived and well written episodes in an A or B rating class. When the show runners said they wanted “satisfying” episodes for the rest of the season with an “exciting” final episode I knew the series was in trouble. Every episode should be a unique, exciting adventure not merely “satisfying”.

“If the show finds its footing once more”sounds great in theory but past practice would indicate that it’s not happening. For example, we are in the morass of another long story line that is starting to bore me to tears. V
Vikram has been working for months on LokSat and has (as far as the fans know) has found no clues or information that could have been discovered by a trained detective in a day. Now in 8×09 Beckett tells Castle she has a meeting with Vikram but the fans do not get togo to the meeting to find out the present status of the case. This is why the fans get bored in the wait. The way these long story lines are conducted the fans see no activity in tbe most important part of the current story li e and think it must not be important and they look flr something else to watch that has some importance or interest. Go figure.

In reply to Buddy. We're speaking more in terms of creatively with "Tone Death." That's been clarified slightly. We've written a ton about the ratings over time, and hopefully they can at least level off if the show finds its footing once more

“The eighth season for Castle started off on a really great note” sounds as though somebody did not read the info on the numbers of fans who watched this “great note” of an episode. FYI the number of viewers who watched was the worse in the 8 year history with the suffering of a 15% loss (over a million viewersgone oerhaps forever.
