(Warning: Do not read on if you have not watched the season 5 premiere of “True Blood.”)
When we went into this season, the general consensus was that somehow, Alan Ball and company were going to find a way to keep Rutina Wesley’s character of Tara alive. However, who knew that this means she was going to be forced into becoming the very thing in which she despises? Vampires have taken so much from her over the years, and now she is yet another person in Bon Temps to sport a set of fangs.
So how is Tara going to react to this revelation? In an interview following the premiere with TVLine, Wesley claims that Tara’s new powers are going to be a “game-changer” for how she not only lives, but interacts with some of the people responsible for turning her:
“She’s only been a vampire for a minute, and what transpires when she comes out of the grave is the most chaotic crazy thing; she doesn’t know what to do. And the most important thing is the relationship between her and Sookie and her and Lafayette and how all of that plays out.”
Since Pam is ultimately the one responsible for transforming her character, Wesley also promises that there will be some exciting scenes moving forward involving her and Kristin Bauer van Straten’s character — who is poised to have some of her best material yet on the show.
Do you think that producers made a smart move in turning Tara, and will she ever forgive Sookie and Lafayette for allowing her to become something she despises so much?
