I stopped watching NCIS when the Parsa storyline concluded. I have no idea what went wrong with the contract negotiations with Cote, but I believe none of what CBS put out there. They were in negotiations with the actress for months. They knew the shooting schedule for the new season and how much time they had to resolve issues with her. Yet they claim they had to rewrite the season? Bullcrap. The opening two parter when Ziva is written out only has her present for the last handful of minutes. It easily lends itself to three possible endings: Ziva dies, Ziva returns to NCIS or Ziva stays in Israel. Cote left the series and they opted for Ziva remaining in Israel. The next five or so episodes seem fairly well-crafted and may have been written for the eventuality of one or more cast members being unavailable. It is the Parsa story arc that introduces the abysmal character of Bishop where extensive rewriting actually seems to have occurred. I cannot see TPTB trying to get Cote for Tony’s exit. The ratings would go through the ceiling and prove once and for all the horrendous error they made with her and the error they made with Bishop.

In reply to Cassie. I won't be back for season 14. The (vain) hope that the writers might give Tony a decent story is all that has kept me tuned in. Even in the upcoming episode with Jeanne back, Jon Cryer will also be back so that the Gibbs story can once again be the most important thing going on. Weatherly posted a selfie while filming the episode and said that he was spending all of his time in the bullpen. I guess that means that as usual Super Gibbs, this time accompanied by his new BFF the Doctor will be handling all the danger. Geeze can't Glasberg and Harmon can't let Weatherly have even one episode where Gibbs isn't main attraction? I'm so sick of the Gibbs show.

In reply to Tracy Travis. IMO one of the most blatant things that has been lacking is any decent stories or moments for Tony. He is quite the most enigmatic and interesting character when given anything substantive to do - but nada. All the drama and suspense has gone mostly to Gibbs and then to Bishop and McGee. Tony is generally put in the most mundane scenes, contributes very little to the cases, and is openly disregarded by a nasty Gibbs. The show isn't fun anymore.

I really hated Tony and Jeanne together. I hope they don’t get those two characters back together romantically before Michael Weatherly’ s departure. I am in such a state of depression! It’s hard enough having to see him leave!! I am not ready for that… I hope Michael comes back as a guest sometimes depending on how they write him out. Not sure I can watch it without Michael, he made that show, such a great actor!! I would love to see Cote de Pablo return sometime this season, but it probably won’t happen, knowing my luck.

Cote was in negotiations with CBS for months. One article that I read said she wanted to be paid closer to what Michael Weatherly was making and that CBS refused. Michael was making about 230,000 per episode, They offered her more than the 120,000 per episode of her last contract but not what she wanted and thought that she deserved. Les Moonves said they offered her a lot of money and then even more money The problem with that is that “a lot of money” is meaningless. What you think it means and what I think it meas could be radically different.

Hollywood has a long history of paying women a lot less than men. Considering that the Hollywood people like to think of themselves as champions of women’s rights, it’s pretty hypocritical. It went down to the wire with Cote and CBS and Cote walked. Gary Glasberg had no backup plan. So, they had to rewrite the upcoming season. So yes, I can’t see how the guys at CBS would not have been angry.

When Patricia Arquette accepted her best supporting actress Oscar, she mentioned the inequality of treatment of women and brought many of the actresses, including Meryl Streep, to their feet with applause and cheering.

In reply to PrivateDancer. The live and live+same day numbers are the people who make the show a priority. The live+7 include the people who, if you give them a week, they will eventually watch it. They like the show but it's not a priority. Live +3 is also used by some.
