‘Veep’ season finale preview: Selina Meyer’s approval ratings are…

Season 1 is nearly over.

Considering the fact that the season finale of “Veep” Sunday night is “entitled “Tears,” you should already have a pretty good idea at just what we can probably expect to happen over the course of this episode. There will be anger, frustration, delusions of grandeur, and quite possibly a desperate attempt by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Selina Meyer to get on stage when she really doesn’t have any business doing so at all.

As for what starts the newest downward spiral by our fictional Vice-President, let’s just say it potentially involves the fact that 66% of Americans disapprove of her in some shape or form. Is this really a surprise? Not really, when you consider how Clean Jobs — coupled with supposedly firing a Secret Service Agent due to him smiling — have completely taken over everything positive that she has done during her tenure in office.

Now that HBO knows that they have a smash hit with this show — in particular thanks to an Emmy-worthy performance from their lead — they will give the show a little bit more to work with in their second season when it comes to episode count. While ten episodes for a show like “Game of Thrones” tends to work fine thanks to its budget and longer run time, having only eight episodes of a program that is only half an hour long seems a bit like a tease – especially when it’s as good as “Veep”.

Have you enjoyed this season so far?
