When you are a show that has as many characters as “True Blood” does, it’s understandable that there may be times in which some people get lost in the shuffle. For much of the show’s run, one of those people has been Kristin Bauer van Straten’s character of Pam. While she has had her fair share of one-liners, we also have not had that much in the way of backstory with her. So where did she come from, and what’s with her allegiance to Eric? These are things that we will learn more about throughout much of season 5.
In talking about the season to Entertainment Weekly, the actress explained that things are going to get pretty dark early on, but there will be some substantial meaning behind what it is that we are seeing:
“In typical True Blood fashion, things may get a little better and then they may get a little worse. It’s a roller coaster. The great thing for me this year was to find out the many layers of that relationship. The way that they wrote it really explains what we know of Pam. You get to see why she is the way she is, why this is the one person for her, why she’s so unsympathetic, and what her life as a human was. It also explains why she’s the least apologetic of the vampires. She and Eric are very happy vampires. They really don’t lament losing their humanity. It was the perfect structure of who she is in a really efficient, dramatic way — and touching. It’s really amazing the back-story they came up with.”
There are going to be some new faces introduced to the vampire world this season — including the members of the Authority (led by Christopher Meloni’s Roman) and an ancient vampire named Salome (Valentina Cervi). Also, Russell Edgington will be back with a plan of his own.
What do you anticipate seeing on this coming season?
