When it comes to the case of Tim Poe and “America’s Got Talent,” the other show has dropped — and the veteran is now admitting to lying about various aspects of the story he presented to producers while trying out for the NBC show in an episode that aired Monday night.
In an interview with the New York Post, Poe is admitting to fabricating a number of elements of the story — saying that he does not have a Purple Heart and that he was in a band once before his injury. (He had said on the show that he only started singing in the shower as a way to help with his stuttering problem.)
As for his actual injury while in Afghanistan, Poe did supply documents to the publication proving that he was injured in the line of duty — but it does not say how. He has modified his story slightly, though, in comparison to the one he told on the show about being hit in the ear by a grenade:
“It may not have happened exactly like I said it did … I really do not remember a lot of things since the accident.
“I remember a blast going off by my head and being in Afghanistan and telling one of the sergeants.
“It is like a dream . . . I can’t remember things exactly how it happened.”
As we wrote earlier in the day, there has still been no decision made yet by producers as to what they are going to do with Poe yet on the show — though this revelation may encourage them to drop him in favor of another promising act.
Do you think Poe should do the right thing and just drop out now, and if you were the producers would you keep him around just so he can face the consequences for what he did later?
