If there is one thing we are noticing already about “The Glee Project” this year versus what we saw the first time around, it is that some of the biggest stars of the flagship series seem to be more willing than ever to actually lending their experience to some of the aspiring future students at McKinley High.
In addition to some of the previously-announced guest mentors (which include Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera, and season 1 co-champion Samuel Larsen), Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch, and Amber Riley are all also going to be making appearances later this season. Darren Criss will be making his second visit to the show, as well, after first stopping by during the premiere last season.
In speaking about these guest bookings, Ryan Murphy explained that they really came down to the cast wanting to be a part of the reality show experience this season:
“The funny thing about the mentors for this season is that the Glee cast really wanted to do it … The first season, they did not want to do it but then they all watched the show and they became fans of the show and for the most part they called me and said, ‘I want to do it!’ Lea [Michele] does, it Cory [Monteith] does it, Naya [Rivera] does it, Amber [Riley] does it, Darren does it, Chris Colfer does it, they all do it. Jane does it. They each have an episode.”
What is nice about these bookings is that so many of the actors have an interesting story about making it onto the show that is inspirational in its own way — and they can relay their struggles to the contestants while giving them all hope for the future.
