Even though “Body of Proof” is going to be returning for a thirteen-episode third season, it is barely going to even be the same show based on some of the recent casting changes.
First things first, TVLine is reporting that John Carroll Lynch and Sonja Sohn are each going to be leaving the show after having been with it since the pilot episode. Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter is also claiming the Nicholas Bishop will also be moving on from the series.
So what’s the reason for all of these changes? More than anything else, it looks to have to do with ABC’s desire to cut down on the budget after the ratings for season 2 were low (at least in the ad-friendly 18-49 demographic). There likely had to be some changes to keep the show around, and with that expect producers to get a bit creative when it comes to finding some ways to make up for the familiar faces being gone.
What did you think about these moves, and what actors do you want to see come on board with Dana Delaney moving forward? (Update: New sources are claiming that these moves may be to freshen up the show — and not related to the budget.)
