For several weeks running on “American Horror Story,” there was a question that many people had: Who was the Ten Commandments Killer? Well, the the episode of the same name gave you answers, but they may not have been the answers that you were looking for.
We, being intrepid CarterMatt Podcast hosts Matt Carter and Jason Prager, have made our opinions pretty clear about this season. Most of them have not been particularly positive; yet, this episode did find a way to still let us down by having the killer be the first person that almost anyone would pick up in a lineup among possible killer suspects in John Lowe. We try to detail why this is predictable, and also some of the ways that they could have made this better, in the video / audio below.
The reality here is that this is a show that has really spent too much time living within the world of backstory and exposition, which is especially strange when you stop and consider for a moment that this is a show with “Horror” in the title. In theory, this is something that should be scary! However, it is really more instead something that bogs you down with history before pushing you forward with any new revelations; there are times we wish that it would provide you with more questions regarding the now than answers regarding the past. We don’t need to see how John did it or even why so much as we need things to propel forward.
There are still five more episodes to go this season, and we’ll see what happens.
