Just how much respect do we have for “Awkward” as a series? Despite it airing on a network that traditionally gets little to no awards buzz from anyone, we have Ashley Rickards as a worthy candidate to be nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for the 2012 Emmys.
It’s been a long wait, but on June 28 the show is finally returning to MTV — and we have a first look at what to expect. In the video below, you will quickly see that some things in the life of Rickards’ Jenna have changed for the better since the first time around. However, she still has the same sort of social problems, the same complicated relationships, and a cast of people surrounding her who are even zanier than she is. With all this in mind, the days of being awkward are indeed far from over.
Hopefully, the presence of a potential ratings beast in “Snooki & JWoww” before the show will help to make the “Awkward” viewership spike up a little bit from season 1; following the strong ratings for “Teen Wolf” upon its return, MTV could end up having a rather good month for itself in the world of scripted television.
Are you excited to see the show coming back?
