Cable ratings: ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ ‘The Glee Project’ down with premieres

Season premieres often mean big numbers for some shows, but that was not necessarily the case when it came to two big hits an the younger viewers. As a matter of fact, Oxygen may have made a major mistake when it came to airing “The Glee Project” — a show presumably geared towards teens and young adults — at 10:00 p.m. on a Tuesday night.
“Glee Project“ – Overall, this competition (despite a cameo from Lea Michele) only drew a woeful 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic along with just under 400,000 viewers. Despite all of the press, nobody bothered to tune in. (This happened last year, as well, though it did pick up as the season went along.)
So what is to blame here? We still don’t believe Oxygen is the right network to be airing this thanks to most of their shows catering to women. Also, who are they airing this at a time at night when many younger people are not watching TV?
“Pretty Little Liars“ – When a number of fans expressed their outrage over Mona being “A,” apparently some of them decided that was all of the show they could take. The ratings for the season 3 premiere were down from the start of season 2 along with its finale in March, even so 2.9 million viewers and a 1.1 rating is still great for ABC Family.
“Jane By Design” – Thanks in part to its “Pretty Little Liars” lead-in, the show brought in 1.38 million viewers and a 0.6 rating — one of its best numbers for the show yet.

Are you surprised by some of these numbers at all?

I totally agree with Yessy! I was highly disappointed with the season 2 finale.. Not only did they make -A mona, but they killed MAYA. Like tf… I know they said that they were sometimes going to follow the book, but why couldn’t they make -A somebody else and kill off a not important character. I know the producer said that by killing Maya off it brought great drama… but if they want great drama they could of killed Toby, Caleb, or Ezra….. Don’t get me wrong I like them all but still. So i’m really not suprised that the ratings went down.. Okay, well i said my piece so i’m going to leave you guys alone. We want Maya alive and written back in the script! :)

Im NOT surprised over the downhill of ratings for PLL.
Not only were Fans upset and dissapointed with finding out who was A
Since it was lead to be a different A from the books. A lot of my friends decieded
NOT to watch after the season finale! Killing MAYA ?!
Well a lot of Fans and Emayans were EXTREMLY dissapointed and decieded
Not to watch, even more sure after Marlene King confirm she is dead never coming back to Roosewood. Now a lot of Emaya Fans didn’t watch or Fans who have been disappointed by
The PLL staff saying one thing and doing another. So ratings say it all.
