The showrunner has been trying to kill Olitz since S2b, 3, 4. It didn’t work so this time she went all out … And it worked. Olitz is dead. However, little did she realize it also killed the illusion that she is “genius”. Warped destruction of lead characters using them as beard to showcase secondary characters trying to promote them as leads instead, showed an ugly side that will live with her for rest of her career. What a mess!

I gave this an “F” because I truly believe that I was duped. I pre bought season 5 because all through the summer I was led to believe that Olivia and Fitz were finally going to make things work, however difficult, however many obstacles were put in their way. Instead, what I was given were characters that were totally unrecognisable, plots that made no sense whatsoever and a storyline that, Wow, what the bloody hell happened here….. I have always realised that with this show you had to suspend a certain amount of belief in order to watch and be entertained but this totally beyond inconsistent nonsense made me realise that it has now gone wayyyy beyond the Rubicon for me.
I live in the UK so I bought the series on iTunes so I could watch it prior to it being aired over here, that was the extent of my enthusiasm, boy am I disappointed.

In reply to Art. I have to agree. Why can't they see that at this point, all fans want are plots that make sense, and good character development? The season was going along really well then they ruined it all with that idiotic finale. All of a sudden Olivia is unable to bawl Fitz out for moving her in without at least asking her? Utter tosh. The writers totally sacrificed character development and consistency for a terrible plot.

F is winning by a mile, but I suspect that’s due to the stupid and illogical winter finale. I think there should be a different grade for the finale versus the rest of the episodes, because there were some great moments and Scandal at times felt like it did in the first 2 seasons.

Olivia aborting Fitz’s baby was just purely to shock the audience and to serve the preachy Planned Parenthood filibuster plot. When the only way the writers can think to end a winter finale is to split the main couple up AGAIN for the 900th time, you know that they know that nobody cares about any other story line, which means that they’re lacking creatively.

506 AND 509…these two episodes alone killed the season! The Scandal writers write for hashtag and OMG moments, not the characters on the show.
