‘Galavant’ season 2: See the first promo (complete with Hugh Bonneville cameo!)

ABC is planning to air the first promo for “Galavant” season 2 during the upcoming American Music Awards on Sunday night, but we come now bearing great news: You don’t have to wait nearly that long at all to see it!

If you look below via Entertainment Weekly, you can see the promo now, including a really great joke at the start about how there are apparently only so many times in which we can hear the theme song. (We disagree slightly with this, given that we have heard it at least three million times.) Also, Hugh Bonneville cameo! We kind of love the fact that the “Downton Abbey” star is playing someone who has so little in common with his character on the ITV series, and that he is willing to rock that hair and makeup.

To us, probably the most exciting them of all may be just seeing Galavant out on an adventure now with King Richard, given that these two had some of the best scenes of the entire first season, and there is also something hilarious about their relationship. Basically, Richard stole Madalena from Galavant, only for her to side to stay and eventually take over much of his kingdom. It was such a different, unexpected story for the show to tell, and we appreciated it very much.

Overall, this is one of those shows you have to check out if you haven’t already. It’s completely absurd, but brilliantly funny and a breath of fresh air on network TV. It premieres on Sunday, January 3 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, and will run for five weeks.
