On Tuesday night, one of the most-anticipated series of the summer is set to premiere in “The Glee Project” — and now, we’re getting an opportunity to hear from the show’s very first mentor from the “Glee” world.
Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote the premiere, Lea Michele teased that what could end up being the real problem with this season is that all of the contestants are pretty fantastic:
“I encouraged them to do what they were already doing, to be comfortable in their own skin … They are such incredible kids who are so brave to come on TV and put themselves out there. It was really more of a gift for me because I was so inspired and motivated by them.”
What has made “The Glee Project” work well as a series is that a victory here is something tangible — rather than see the champion fade into oblivion, they instead get a chance to shine in an arc on “Glee” this coming season. Being that there is only one winner this time around, it’s fair to say that the tension is going to be taken up a notch between the contestants, who are all fighting for the same thing (and may never get an opportunity in this form again).
As you would expect, we are going to have full coverage of the “Project” all season — be sure to check back for episode reviews and more!
