‘Chicago PD’ season 3, episode 8 review: Is Trudy getting married?

Chicago PDThe last episode of “Chicago PD” season 3 didn’t give us a lot when it comes to the Lindsay/Halstead relationship. How is Voight going to react to this when they reveal it to him? We suspect he’s not going to be happy even though he already knows it’s probably going on behind his back. We also saw Olinsky give up his wife and child to take in Michelle, a young girl that may or may not be his daughter. Now he and Michelle are couch surfing at Ruzek’s place, but how long is this going to go on and what is Olinsky’s long term plan?

Ruzek’s place is pretty cramped and he’s already asking how long it’s going to be until Olinsky and Michelle move out, but he doesn’t have any idea. Michelle asks why Burgess and Ruzek aren’t living together yet since they are engaged and it pushes Burgess into telling Ruzek that it’s time for them to move in together and he says he agrees.

Love is in the air on “Chicago PD”: We have Ruzek and Burgess, Halstead and Lindsay, so why not for Trudy and her boyfriend? Trudy’s man is ready to propose so he asks Burgess to figure out what her ring size is and she agrees to help. Burgess puts too much hand cream on and then tries to put some on Trudy to feel out her finger size. Easily the best scene of the night, just so awkward, but she gets the ring size and it looks like there is going to be a proposal coming up soon!

Now that Captain James Whittaker has invited Atwater into his circle he wants a favor in return. His son was picked up by Burgess and Roman and wants the charges dropped. Atwater asks them to drop the charges and they decide to help letting the Captain’s son off of his charges. The son says that this is a one time thing and that he will stay out of trouble, but as soon as he has a chance to get into trouble again, he does and Burgess and Ruzek arrest him a second time. This time around Burgess and Roman won’t look away from this, but Atwater still wants to help this kid out and looks like he’s going to put his name on the report, so that he can bury it again.

The case of the week wasn’t that interesting, which was a little disappointing for this show because they are usually a lot more exciting then this. Even though we had some movement on our main cast and their personal stories, there wasn’t anything that really captured our attention tonight. We did have a cute moment with Lindsay and Halstead after he got a phone number from a beautiful woman and ripped it up right in front of Lindsay. Episode grade: C+
