Just wanted to comment on this topic. I did not subscribe to Starz or actually pay any attention to it at all until I discovered Outlander. I had heard about Outlander from some friends and read a bit about it on social media but didn't know where to find it on my television. When I discovered it was on Starz I replaced some of my other premium channels with the Starz network in time to watch the reruns of the first half of Season one in preparation for the return for the second half. I was hooked after the first episode, immediately started buying the books and was surprised and pleased with how well the important scenes stayed true to the books. I am a huge fan of both now. It doesn't hurt that both Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are excellent actors, beautiful to watch, and extremely accessible to their fans. They have brought these beloved characters to life. I sincerely hope Starz knows what a gem it has and that all of the 9 books in the series that Diana Gabaldon has written so far, the 9th that she is in the process of writing, and any subsequent books make their way to the television series. I will watch as long as they are aired. I watched season 1 over and over on Starz online and have purchased both DVDs that have been released so far, even purchased the adult color book and calendar. My next trip will be to Scotland on the Outlander tour. And, I am just one of many. Outlander pulls you into its world and holds you. If I am any indication, Outlander has been a commercial success for Starz and also for Scotland tourism.
