Simon Cowell has judged a good many aspiring superstars over the years — but in looking back at them over the years, few have achieved the sort of international stardom as former “American Idol” contestant Adam Lambert.
Even though Simon has left “Idol” and started up “The X Factor” here in America, the connection between the two is still there — and it led to Adam being asked about Simon hiring Britney Spears and Demi Lovato while in a sit down interview with MuchMusic earlier this week. His response? It was more than a little bit positive:
“I think they’re going to do great. I think it will be cool for people to get to see Britney again, to see her outside of her music. Demi’s really talented, I think she’s great.”
Meanwhile, Adam also commented on the number of artists out there now who have come from some sort of singing competition. After all, you have One Direction from “The X Factor” UK, Carly Rae Jepsen from “Idol,” and of course everyone from “Idol” here in the States who is trying to make a name for themselves:
“I think there’s a lot of artists too who don’t come from that … I think it’s cool that there are [shows] out there who allow new singers to get some exposure.”
What made Adam’s journey with Cowell particularly interesting was that he was the judge who initially doubted whether or not he would work in the modern music industry, but by the end of the competition he had completely and totally won him over.
Do you agree with Adam’s assessment about both Britney and Demi as judges? Stay tuned, as we’ll have more coverage of the show as the auditions move to Kansas City.
