Wednesday night’s new episode of “American Horror Story” was not exactly the most eventful of the season. As a matter of fact, we’re still trying to figure out just what in the world happened with it. Does this show have a large cast? Certainly so, but it should not skimp on the heart just for the sake of getting more familiar faces and big-name guest stars.
In the latest edition of our CarterMatt Podcast featuring Matt Carter and Jason Prager below, we try to get to what is at center of this season’s problem … and this is ultimately what we have circled in on. We’re not entirely thrilled with the lack of screen time for familiar characters, or with spending a great deal of time on a dinner party that simply does not feel that important at the end of the day.
The thing that we feel like we are missing out on here for the most part is a reason to care. What makes all of these people worth caring about? How can we get more invested in these characters? Why are Mr. March’s exploits being mostly just described in the past? All of these are valuable questions that we try to piece together here.
Ultimately, we admit that this season right now is a little bit of a struggle for us. We came into it with relatively high hopes, but so far it has been swimming within a sea of missed expectations and disappointment.
