While the “Game of Thrones” season finale Sunday night could potentially contain some good news for some people, it will probably not when it comes to Alfie Allen’s character of Theon Greyjoy. He and his men made the decision to occupy Winterfell earlier this season, but did so without really thinking anything through — meanwhile, he also tricked the townspeople into believing that Bran Stark is dead, when really this could not be further from the truth.
Speaking to MTV News about what we can expect from his character in the finale, Allen had the following to say:
“Theon is not going to get the backup he needs, and people he thought he could rely on are really waiting for him to mess up and take advantage of that situation and sell him off to certain people … But he doesn’t know this.”
Allen also says that there is a surprise person from the first season that could turn up in the finale, and it seems to be in some way tied to Daenerys Targeryan and the House of the Undying. Emilia Clarke’s character is going to have a ton of content in the extended episode, and it looks as though there could be a number of cliffhangers.
Ultimately, Allen says that he is not even sure what is going to happen to his character moving forward to season 3 — and while showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have been fairly consistent in not straying from George R.R. Martin’s source material, it’s always possible that they could take some minor detours here and there.
What do you want to see unfold during the finale, and are you firmly of the belief that the more Theon we have, the better the show is?
