Are we now getting close to the end of “Private Practice” as we know it? Based on some new reports coming out now, that seems to be the case.
According to Deadline, Kate Walsh is planning to depart the hit ABC drama at the end of season 6, which would mark the end of her seventh year playing the role of Addison when you include “Grey’s Anatomy.” Unlike what happened with Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey on this show, however, this is not a situation where Walsh could be convinced to stay on board for more cash. Walsh had already signed on to a new one-year deal just so that the show could film an additional 13 episodes, which is all she would reportedly commit to.
While ABC has yet to announce whether or not this upcoming season of “Practice” would mark the end of the show, the 13-episode renewal does certainly seem to suggest that when you look at the recent orders for “Fringe” and “Gossip Girl.” We should know for sure in the months ahead, as Shondra Rhimes and the other executive producers work to plot out the storyline.
One thing is for certain — it’s going to be hard for this “Practice” to continue if Addison is not a part of it.
