While this new “American Horror Story: Hotel” CarterMatt Podcast is coming a little bit later than some other past editions, it’s here! Typically, these will be up come Thursday night, but we needed some time to digest what is a polarizing show and think about what we really want to see happen on here as opposed to what is happening.
In the video below, you can see Matt Carter and Jason Prager go through the events of the second episode of the season, including the arrival of Mr. March (Evan Peters), Lady Gaga’s performance to date, and above all, some things that the show really needs to do in order to fix itself. A good bit of this is tied to them figuring out if there is a better way for them to shorten these episodes, cut out the filler, and then focus on a few characters rather than making the cast so gigantic! That was one of the reasons that “American Horror Story: Murder House” was so successful – it had a small enough cast that we could really become attached to the occupants of the house. Now it’s more of a revolving door of characters, making it hard to form attachments.
Is there still hope for the rest of the season? Sure, but so far as they try to take some steps to rectify these issues, and give some more of what people want: Scares, surprises, and strong performances. We still have fun talking about the show on the podcast, if for no other reason than all of the “Hannibal” references and comparing this to other shows out there.
We’re going to have some other news about the franchise coming up in the near future, so be on the lookout! This is still going to be an eventful week when it comes to news on the show.
