Basically, the entire weekend is going to be in many ways a “Dead”-a-thon. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. Eastern on each day, the entire 19-episode run of the show will air, complete with some introductions from “Talking Dead” host Chris Hardwick from the set of the show’s third season (which is currently filming). All of this will culminated in a special one-hour version of the chat show Sunday at 9:00 p.m., and then a special airing of the pilot episode reconverted into black and white. (As longtime fans of the Robert Kirkman comic book series know, the first issue was illustrated entirely in this color scheme.)
As for one final bit of goodness related to this marathon, Hardwick is going to reveal a code on the one-hour “Talking Dead,” which viewers can use to enter a contest at this link in order to win a “stagger-on” role as a walker for a season 3 episode. (What’s better than being a zombie?)
“The Walking Dead” is not only the highest-rated scripted show on AMC in adults 18-49 and 25-54, it is also the highest-rated on all of cable TV. Season 3 will begin airing on the network this fall.
