Brad Womack is not one to embrace the public eye, and really ever since his days as “The Bachelor” he has only given a few interviews. As a matter of fact, it was only current “Bachelorette” Emily Maynard who spoke out following the couple’s split several months after his season ended in 2011.
So when Brad did say that he “dodged a bullet” by the relationship not working out in a TV interview earlier this year, it created headlines all around the country, with many suggesting that he was deliberately being cruel to his one-time fiancee. However, Emily came out days later and said that she believed Brad was being misunderstood, and his new quote seems to reflect that.
Speaking in a new interview on “The Bobby Bones Show,” Brad explained he is “blissfully oblivious” to what is going on with the show, and that he actually thought the relationship would have worked if it was not so public and they met in real life:
“I think in any other circumstance Em and I would have worked out. I really do. Quite frankly, this whole situation is just weird and any time we try and hang out we had people following us, taking pictures. I get the old saying ‘I made my bed and I need to lie in it’ but I’m very, very protective over the people I care about … So whenever we were out and it would bother her, I’d get a little upset. We parlayed into moments when we were just alone. I was just done, man. I’m not saying I left, I’m saying I had to re-evaluate if I really wanted this as part of my life.”
As for why he’s not watching, Brad’s answer actually made a great deal of sense — who wants to watch somebody that you once had deep feelings for date a bunch of other guys? While he says that he has moved on, it also sounds like there are still some unresolved feelings there.
