We have quite a bit to talk about yet again in our Thursday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, with the biggest headline at the moment being the return of a coronation song to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Phillip pulls it off – Despite not getting a full week to promote the song thanks to surgery preparation, the reigning champ’s coronation song “Home” is the first one of its kind to debut in the top ten since David Cook did so back with “Time of My Life” in 2008. Phillip’s song specifically lands at #10 in this week’s edition, which is a spot higher than Kris Allen’s “No Boundaries” or Scotty McCreery’s “I Love You This Big.”
While these songs have a tendency to slide off the chart pretty fast, Phillip may actually have a bit more of a shelf life here thanks to the song actually being pretty good. Even with that being said, though, expect a big drop on the chart next week.
Adam makes his own debut – This week, Adam Lambert also has a chart accomplishment — new single “Never Close Our Eyes” has entered the top 40 on the Hot AC chart for the first time.
Currently, the song is sitting at #38 on the chart, and is gaining enough spins to provide some hope that it will continue to climb in the weeks ahead. This is the second single from “Trespassing” to appear on this chart after “Better Than I Know Myself,” and he is one of many “Idol” stars currently on the rise — Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” is near the top 20, and Kris Allen (with “The Vision of Love”) and Haley Reinhart (with “Free”) are hovering around the top 30 of the chart at the moment.
Jessica hits up “Good Day NY” – Finally, we’ll close with a video for all of the Jessica Sanchez fans, as she made an appearance recently on “Good Day NY.” It wasn’t exactly the most informative interview, but at least it was fairly enthusiastic. Jessica said that she has heard about all sort of opportunities that may be coming her way, but could not confirm or deny anything.
Continue to check back soon for more in the way of “Idol” news!
