‘The X Factor’ alum One Direction talks fame, achievements on ‘Today’

The boys hit up "Today."

For the first time since performing in the middle of Manhattan earlier this year, One Direction returned to “The Today Show” on Wednesday morning — though this time for a sit-down interview rather than a performance.

In a chat with Jenna Bush Hager, the boys answered all sorts of questions — including what it has been like becoming overnight starts following “The X Factor,” if they have handled being constantly the center of attention yet, and of course just how many of them have girlfriends. (In other words, it’s partially a standard One Direction interview!)

In seeing hundreds of former singing-show contestants over the years, what is particularly striking about this group is how they don’t take themselves or anything they do too seriously. Few artists who go through this experience seem to understand that being too serious can be their own downfall, and you have to have a personality often to get noticed. It is thanks in part to this that One Direction now has fans not just where they originated in Great Britain, but ultimately all across the world.

What’s next for the boys? Let’s just say that they are going to be heading out on a rather massive tour soon, and will be constantly on the move.
