Blake Lively ‘lucky’ to have ‘Gossip Girl,’ but ready to move on

Moving on?

Despite some of the spun headlines out there regarding Blake Lively’s feelings about “Gossip Girl” ending after six seasons, she is not anxiously pining for the days of playing Serena to be over. However, she does admit that this is the perfect time for her to move on to the next big project.

As a part of a new interview with BULLETT, Lively had the following to say about her experience — along with where she sees her career going next:

“It’ll be bittersweet when it’s over because it gave me all of this. I think the best way to describe it is like someone who really enjoyed high school, and is like, ‘I’m a senior and I can’t wait for the next thing!’ … Gossip Girl was so great, but what’s the next challenge in life? Because, you know, six years is a long time … As an actor who plays a caricature of myself on the show, I don’t think I’d say, ‘Watch Gossip Girl for my best quality of work.’ But I am very lucky to have had that experience.'”

Lively will start filming the final season later this summer, and it will begin airing in the fall. Following the series finale, The CW is replacing the show with the “Sex and the City” prequel “The Carrie Diaries.”
