‘The Bachelorette’: Emily Maynard explains sending Tony Pieper home

Emily explains themselves!

There were some rather surprising things that unfolded during Monday night’s new episode of “The Bachelorette.” Not only did we see Alessandro completely shoot himself in the foot by saying that being with both Emily Maynard and her daughter Ricki was going to be a “compromise,” but she also sent home a pretty nice guy in Tony Pieper after he expressed sorrow about being away from his son.

So was this a tough decision for Emily to make? It sounds like it based on her new comments in her People Magazine blog — and while she probably would have kept him for at least a few more weeks had he not broke down, it sounds like she knew he would not ultimately be her pick, anyway:

“At the after party I knew there was something wrong with Tony, so when I found him so upset outside I felt awful. I know first-hand how hard it is to be away from your child, and that’s why my heart just broke for him. As great as Tony is, I couldn’t look at him and know without a doubt that in the end he was going to be my guy, and for that reason I didn’t feel right about keeping him away from his son any longer. “

Just in case you want to wipe the tears away from your eyes after hearing that statement, you can check out a rather silly clip below of some of the guys being guys — which in this case means they are measuring their own muscles. As for who really does this in real life (unless you are really bored), your guess is as good as mine.

Do you think Emily made the right choice?
