‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, and Jennifer Lopez

Jessica performed on the show.

Now that we’ve talked about Adam Lambert’s new music video for “Never Close Our Eyes,” we turn to the rest of the “American Idol” notes for this Tuesday morning.

Jessica Sanchez on “Live! with Kelly” – As we have reported about previously, the reigning runner-up from this season took to the talk show this morning to talk about the show and to also give a performance of “I Will Always Love You.”

The performance was pretty fantastic, and the only thing that we found interesting is that Jessica vaguely referenced her time on “America’s Got Talent” for really the first time since the season began. It was also worth watching just to see guest host Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies almost undercut singing competitions by saying that he would have never been accepted on one of those shows, he has still sold 14 million records — a number that really only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are near at this point.

Phillip’s surgery date not Tuesday – Despite what TMZ has reported as of late, a source incredibly close to Phillip (in his girlfriend) is saying that he is not going under the knife Tuesday to fix a kidney problem — though it will be soon.

In a new post on Twitter, here is what Hannah Blackwell had to say on the subject:

“Phillip’s surgery is not tomorrow. He will be fine when it is scheduled and is excited for tour. Thanks for your concern and respect.”

Phillip has yet to actually confirm any date for his surgery, saying instead that it will just happen “soon” in many post-show interviews.

Inside Jennifer Lopez’s negotiations – If for whatever reason J.Lo does decide to return to “Idol” next season, she’s not going to be getting a raise based on what we are hearing now.

Due to the drop in “Idol’s” ratings this season, TMZ is reporting that Lopez may not even be offered the same amount of money that she was for season 11 — which really to us means that the show may look to go in a different direction now that they have hit their peak with the current panel. Would Nigel Lythgoe love to have J.Lo back? Sure, but considering her touring commitment it’s not likely to happen.

As always, check back soon for more “Idol” news!
