We have some more “American Idol” notes for your Sunday — and on this occasion, it’s courtesy of a pair of contestants getting the opportunity to do something typically only reserved for the top three.
Homecomings – Within the past few days, both Hollie Cavanagh and Colton Dixon have had an opportunity to return to their respective hometowns in Texas and Tennessee, and in the process they each had an opportunity to reach out to a local audience.
In the case of Hollie, this mean her getting the opportunity to perform in front of a local McKinney audience. In addition to taking on “Bleeding Love” and “The Climb” (which was one of her original audition songs), she also performed “River Deep, Mountain High” — which you can see below.
As for Colton, the video below shows him doing something that he has been incredibly passionate about ever since setting foot on the “Idol” stage — his ministry. While not everyone may agree with his religious beliefs, we have mad respect for being passionate and refusing to allow his new platform to change his message.
New covers – While Kris Allen had his homecoming years ago, we do have a new video worth checking out if you are a fan of Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” — or at least the sort of twist that Kris puts on the music of others.
While at a concert event in Maryland this week, the season 8 champ rocked to a slowed-down version of the hit — and like with many other Allen covers, we’re a fan.
As always, check back soon for more of the latest “Idol” news!
