‘True Blood’ alum lands Richard Burton role in Lifetime’s Elizabeth Taylor movie

Lifetime has high expectations.

It looks like Lindsay Lohan now has some company when it comes to her upcoming TV movie all about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton — and his name is going to be familiar from the get-go to fans of “True Blood.”

In a new statement, Grant Bowler (who played Cooter on the hit HBO series during the show’s third season) had this to say about getting to star alongside Lohan, who is playing the big-screen icon in “Liz & Dick”:

“I never expected to be given the opportunity to play Richard Burton. I am thrilled, honored and excited … I look forward to working with Lindsay Lohan on this movie.”

There is some rather interesting trivia to go along with this casting. Both Bowler and Lohan were a part of “Ugly Betty” at one point during the show’s production, but they never ended up sharing a scene together.

There’s still no word on when “Liz & Dick” is actually going to air — but we’ll have more on the project as soon as it is available! Season 5 on “True Blood,” for the record, will premiere on Sunday, June 10.
