Mrs. Carter: Bethenny Frankel has come up with an interesting way to respond to divorce rumors.
Over the past few weeks, there has been tabloid headline after headline suggesting that the Skinnygirl tycoon (and “Bethenny Ever After” star) and Jason Hoppy are getting divorced after just two years of marriage. Since she is being pretty much asked about it now at every twist and turn, her new explanation seems to be for people to wait and see. Here’s how she responded to a question about her personal life on Twitter:
“We’re going to talk about everything on my show! June 11 on Fox Broadcasting.”
Bethenny has been busy promoting this show for weeks now, and it is being given a brief run in the summer to see if it is viable as a long-term solution for Fox in the fall. If it fares well in the ratings, expect to see it stay put in the fall; otherwise, it could be gone by the time the new season starts.
What do you think about the way Bethenny is handling the divorce rumors? Should she be using this as a way to get people to tune in? It seems to be a pretty regular thing these days for reality stars to address relationship rumors on their shows, just look at Jennie Garth and her split to Peter Facinelli – she didn’t say much of anything to media about the split except that all questions would be answered on her show and since reality shows are based on these people lives (including their divorces) it makes sense that all would be revealed on the show. Regardless of what is or isn’t shown on TV, the use of stars withholding information from those who want to know and force them to tune in is a little strange, especially when you factor in that the people that want to know, would have tuned in anyways.
