Thursday night marked the official start to the summer TV season — though it also showed that some viewers may be tiring of the old — as well as the overdone.
There were only a few new programs on the night for the Big 5 networks — we’re only going to show repeats from here on out if there are gigantic shifts in the ratings.
ABC – The Eye launched their new lineup with “Duets” Thursday, and it registered just a meager 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic to go along with 6.6 million viewers. Is it possible that the “So you Think You Can Dance” move will help it? Sure, but it is hindered by the fact that the premiere was slow and surprisingly lifeless. Following this, “Rookie Blue” also underwhelmed with a 1.4 rating that could put this Canadian import in danger.
NBC – Following an “America’s Got Talent” repeat, the series finale of “Awake” rose slightly in registering a 0.9 rating. Not, we mourn a show that was better than the numbers showed.
Fox – The two-hour “So You Think You Can Dance” premiere won the night with a 2.4, but this was down mightily from the 3.3 rating that the show scored last year. Is Nigel Lythgoe
The CW – The only “new show” was a Perez Hilton special brought over from the UK, and it did decently with a 0.3 rating.
Do you think “Duets” improving on this number?
