Comic-Con 2011: first poster for ‘The Avengers’ released

Paramount / Marvel

It only seems appropriate that on the first day that the focus starts to turn from “Captain America” to “The Avengers,” we would have an opportunity to see our first poster from the upcoming superhero crossover flick — one with the potential to become one of the biggest box-office smashes of all times.

The poster in itself is more than a little simplistic, with the focus merely being on the A in the logo. It’s just enough to get people excited, but it still makes you want to beg and plead for more (as in a shot of all the characters actually together).

One of the eral joys with this upcoming movie is seeing how “Captain America” viewers will react to seeing a tiny tease for the film at the end of the movie — it’s become a bit of a Marvel tradition ever since the first “Iron Man,” and a number of other little hints have been sprinkled in throughout the past few films as a result.

What do you think of this poster — or are you waiting for an actual trailer before getting genuinely excited?
