‘American Idol’ notes: Haley Reinhart, Kris Allen’s albums now in stores

Haley's album is out.

Do you want some good music? If so, you have a pretty good incentive to head to the local music store (or iTunes) today.

As you have probably heard by now courtesy of reading this site, both Haley Reinhart and Kris Allen are joining Adam Lambert and Carrie Underwood as “American Idol” alum to release an album in the months of May. While we don’t consider ourselves to be music critics by any means, both of these new releases are fun, easy listens that show off their artists’ voices. (In other words, they are definitely worth a buy.)

When it comes to Haley’s album in particular, what should be worth noting here is that Jimmy Iovine actually allowed her the time to really think about the music she wanted on this disc — and not just rush her into putting something out there for consumers before it was ready. Kris did not have this luxury with his self-titled debut, but “Thank You Camellia” benefits greatly from having the extra time and from his smart, snappy vision for what he wanted the disc to be.

Just in case you needed one final reason to pick up Haley’s “Listen Up!”, you can check out her performing lead single “Free” while at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood.

Have you picked up either of these albums? (Update: We now have a performance of Kris’ “The Vision of Love” from “Live! with Kelly” via Mjsbigblog.)
